Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. She released her first EP on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat it out on 21st July. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's references. Then, later in the season, the music was played around Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held to Dreamville Records on 8 December. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also appeared on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. Then on the 9th of November, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on the 13th of November, two brand new singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. She then appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. The song, released with a video on YouTube on February 20, 2019, was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. She supported the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
